Life is full of stumbling blocks *and detours* and in those times, we all need a bit of creativity to get through.  You can check out a ton of my creativity posts, crafty DIYS, and ideas on how to see the world like an artist.
IN the meantime here are four quick tips to turn your “daily detours” into art.
Sometimes it’s great to just get out of your head and get into something creative.
Don’t know where to start?
Start with your pantry!
“Creativity is discontent translated into arts.”-Eric Hoffer

1:  “Edible” Art

What I’m using: Nutmeg – no joke!  Sometimes I’ll sprinkle this yummy spice on
top of wet acrylic paint to create a very interesting texture and earth brown
tone!

2: Gratitude Journaling

Grateful List

What I’m journaling:  Amazing art journal prompts on gratitude – great for an art journal,
a journal, or an idea to get you started making any kind of art!

3: Storytelling

I’ve been hearing some amazing stories around the web.  I am so lucky to “e-meet” bold, beautiful “Detourists” every Why Not Wednesday – read some inspiring Detourist stories here – and share YOURS here!
If life's taken you down an unexpected path, you're a Detourist
Everyone has a story to tell.  Don’t think storytelling matters?
These folks beg to differ:
“The human species thinks in metaphors and learns through stories.” –Mary Catherine Bateson
“Story is a yearning meeting an obstacle.” –Robert Olen Butler

“There’s always room for a story that can transport people to another place.”–J.K. Rowling

Your story is important! Read some stories you’ve been sharing with me on my weekly Why Not Wednesday Feature, and share your own story with me here!

4: Helping Yourself

Have you noticed?
Have you been in any Barnes and Nobles Lately?  You’ll discover that the Self Help section changed to Living Your Best Life – the world is catching on that “self-help” is  no longer about healing from wounds or traumatic events.
Helping yourself is how to live your best life.

5: Googling – let your mind…and mouse wander!

It’s Not About Trauma, It’s About Travel
You don’t need to be “traumatized” to heal.  You don’t need to be scarred, suffering, or at rock bottom to ask for help.  We’re all here to help each other get to the next step of our journeys…whatever that step is!
We’re all traveling down our rocky detours – big, small or in between.
Detours: Why We All Have ‘Em
  • We all struggle.
  • We all need help some times.  Maybe that help is just holding the elevator for us.
  • Maybe that help is a get-well card.
  • Maybe that help is sharing our story to give someone else hope.
Creativity is everywhere.

In all shapes and sizes…

And it’s not always with a paintbrush.

Although sometimes that’s nice too..
