Hey folks – there’s been a ton going on lately, so let me give you a few VERY exciting updates!

Get Ready to Art Journal!

It’s all things Fall!  And as the leaves start to change, it’s the perfect time for this week’s art journaling challenge…

Pick Your Palette!

Fall is the season of changing colors, so now it’s time to use a palette you wouldn’t usually pick.

Try something different!

Or…create Fall in your fantasy world.  Who says that Fall has to be those lovely earthy tones of burgundy, ochre and taupe?  Go crazy!  Make a neon pink Fall – hey, it’s your art.  I’m not judging.

Of course, what Autumn “looks” like depends on where you live.  What do you love most about Fall in your area?  I happen to live in New England, so I have a soft spot for the lovely fall foliage up here.  My favorite place to watch the leaves change would be the Berkshires in Massachusetts.

It inspired a piece I wrote about the most beautiful spot in nature I think could ever exist!

Where is your nature-happy place?  Draw it – for this week #4, anything goes.

Think about Fall, changing colors, transitions and the beauty of how things change, why things change, and what they change into…

So that’s Challenge #4, but the ongoing challenge for me is, well – how do I do it all?  This, is still a work in progress!

In the studio…

I’ve been painting a few backgrounds lately.  I’ve been thinking of creating a series of paintings for an illustrated book telling a story which is a bit of a metaphor for how I was sexually abused and recovered.

This is a work in progress, but basically, the story I created in order to heal, was imagining myself as a bluebird that was befriended by a lion.  Slowly his tail turned into a snake and then snake became the abuser…well…I know that’s a mouthful.  You’ll hear about that later on 🙂

I’ve also been working on a book of my own and a few little goodies you can get exclusively on my website until the book comes out.  For now, I’ve made a package for those with ostomies, but stay tuned this week for a big surprise…or three of them 🙂

You never know what can amount from an unexpected obstacle in your life, or a few clumsy brushstrokes.  Either way, you can turn it into a masterpiece.

Let’s just say it will be how to make your own beautiful detours and well, you’ll all become beautiful detourists soon enough – and you’ll love it!

Hmmm…even though pizza changed my life, I’ve got a soft spot for matzoh.  I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I eat it every day.  This is matzoh brie and matzoh with cream cheese right here.  Don’t get the obsession?  Buzzfeed does.  Check out these 25 delicious ways to use matzoh.  Thank you Buzzfeed.

Turning Passion to Business…

I’m also back at school, running around like a crazy person. Yes I’m married, living in CT and commuting to Hampshire College, at 28 years old.  But I love it.  I’m taking a business course, reading The Lean Startup and really working on turning my passion for the arts, sharing my story and helping others into a service that can really make a difference in the world…hopefully!

Thinking about goals…on a white board – that makes it official 🙂

In fact, I’m speaking today at the Beehive in Bridgeport about how my passion turned into a career.  You can read my 28 lessons fueling success with passion here, and also read my 8 P’s for acing that job hunt!

I’m still Gutless & Grateful!

I had a great time performing Gutless & Grateful in Kansas City and leading my workshop on the Power of Words and now I’m off to Denver on October 30th!

This is for a wonderful cause – it’s to benefit the eating disorder Foundation of Colorado, so if you’re not in the area, please do pass the word around, or you can just make a donation direction to them  Find out more here!  And see that lil’ poll at the bottom of the page? It’s just to help me figure out what issues you’d like to work most on and what formats are most enjoyable for you.  So stay tuned for much more workshop offerings…

Art…out of the studio!

I’m also going to be leading my Show Me Your heART workshops in Westport, CT for Westport Continuing Ed this march!  Just a little teaser 🙂  Basically I’m busy.  And lovin’ it.

How do you balance…

I’ve written about multipotentiality before, but besides being able to focus a million different passions, I think the most important thing to do is to learn now to…

Any tips?
